The Shelton Leadership Center offers a variety of academic courses each semester designed to deepen students’ leadership knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to lead with integrity, purpose, and commitment to the greater good. I’m writing to ask for your support by sharing the Fall 2025 courses below. These courses are open to ALL majors, and many of them count toward GEP credit.
- SLC 202: CREATE: Carolina Regional Entrepreneurship Albright Team Experience [Online] This course is designed for students interested in exploring leadership in rural contexts. You’ll work with local community leaders to collaboratively address problems that are unique to rural contexts across NC. *GEP Interdisciplinary Perspectives*
- SLC 250: Critical and Creative Decision-Making Models [2 In-person Sections Offered] This course is designed for the student who wants to learn to think critically and creatively when making decisions taking into consideration a variety of decision-making models across [sub] disciplines. *GEP Interdisciplinary Perspectives*
- SLC 300: Leading with an Ethical Perspective [Online] Students will explore personal and professional aspects of ethical leadership perspectives. They will consider ethical perspectives from a general overview or within their specific field.
- SLC 350: Leadership and Negotiation [In-person] Students will explore the theories and techniques for effective negotiation practices. Through experiential learning, students will consider the ethics, cultural sensitivities, and power dynamics of expressing leadership when negotiating with peers, teams, and external partners. *GEP Interdisciplinary Perspectives*
- SLC 401: Independent Study in Leadership Theory Application – Students will analyze and apply one or more leadership theories through a discipline-specific, independent project related to the academic and professional aspirations of the student. Instructor permission required.
- SLC 450: Expanding Leadership Skills as an Intern – Students will identify an internship experience (minimum of 150 hours) and gain practical leadership skills and apply leadership knowledge that will be transferable to the student’s academic and career goals. Instructor permission required.
If you are interested in diving deeper into the field of leadership, please check out the Leadership: Cross-Disciplinary Perspectives Minor. This is a 15-hour minor with interdisciplinary coursework focused on leadership theory to action.
