The MEAS Symposium is right around the corner on Monday, April 15 at the McKimmon Center. Although a full day of fun awaits you, ample free on-site parking and a location only a 15-minute walk / 4-minute bike-or-scooter-ride from Jordan makes it easy to come and go during the day if needed.
We’ve extended registration through noon tomorrow (Thursday, April 11) to offer a last chance at guaranteed first dibs on the lunch buffet catered by Neomonde, breakfast pastries and coffee, and afternoon snacks. Our current headcount is quite a bit lower than attendance the last two years, so please make sure you remember to register so we don’t end up short on food.
In addition to talks and posters by faculty, staff, grad students, and undergrads highlighting the exciting research, teaching, and external partnerships across our MEAS community, don’t miss these other highlights of the 2024 MEAS Symposium:
- Alumni Career Panel – learn about diverse career paths in Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences outside of academia and connect with MEAS alumni!
- Keynote presentation by MEAS alumnus Dr. Blake Schaeffer (EPA) – “Beyond boundaries of research: a story of water quality, human health, economics, and tech transfer”
- Tools-of-the-trade “petting zoo” – Experience a volcano in VR, test the “windspeed” and composition of your breath with atmospheric instrumentation, dive into a microscopic aquatic world with a plankton flow-cam, and be dazzled by the kaleidoscopic colors of rocks under a polarizing microscope!
- MEAS trivia hosted by the Graduate Student Association
- GSA and MEAS undergrad clubs selling swag (and rocks/minerals)
