- The 2024 Spring Symposium will be held April 23-24 in Talley Student Union
- (new) The OUR is accepting OUR Ambassador applications. We are hiring ambassadors for May 2024 through Spring 2025; hired ambassadors will work during the Summer. The application will open later today (April 4) and be open through May 3 at 5:00pm.
- (deadline soon) Summer 2024 OUR Research Assistant Program applications will be open from April 1-April 8. Students must have a mentor to apply. OUR RAs are expected to work 10 hours per week throughout the summer (mid-May – end of July).
- The OUR is seeking volunteers for Spring Symposium. We welcome support from undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoc, staff, and/or faculty. You can review volunteer options and sign up using the Symposium Volunteer Survey. Please respond by April 12 at 5:00pm if interested. Thank you for your help!
- If you have a research presentation (oral or poster; class, Symposium, conference, etc.) and want to practice and receive feedback, the OUR is providing Presentation Help Sessions. Remaining sessions: April 12. You must bring a draft with you to this session – you will be presenting it.
- Fall 2024 Project Supply Grants are open. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Fall grant submissions are due by June 28. You must attend a Help Session to have your proposal read (see site for more information; Fall sessions to be offered in May/June, TBA).
- The 2024 Envisioning Research Contest is open. Undergraduate researchers, as well as graduates, staff, and faculty are invited to submit images, gifs, and/or videos related to your research. Envisioning Research submissions are due by June 17. Monetary prizes are available for winners.
- If you’re a student applying to programs/jobs, do not write down the OUR as your supervisor for work history. Make sure to include your mentor and your mentor’s contact information; they will be able to speak to your abilities.

Program/Opportunity Applications
- UNC Wilmington is accepting applications from students who have just completed their first year of postsecondary education for their Marine Science Summer REU Program. Applications are due April 10, 2024 by 5:00pm.
Opportunities to Present or Listen
- The Global One Health Research Symposium will be held on Friday, April 12 from 1:00-5:00pm. Undergraduates, in addition to hearing research in One Health areas, there will also be time to network with faculty who work on One Health topics in their research spaces.
- Pack Science Challenge: Sound Around Town: March 25-April 12 participate in a public science project about human perceptions of outdoor acoustic environments. Listen at a campus listening station and share perceptions via the Sounds Around Town app.
- The Global One Health Academy will host the One Health Research Symposium on Friday, April 12. Review the speakers, review the networking opportunities (undergraduates wishing to work in One Health-related areas – meet with mentors), and register using the link on the site.
- Art United, a poetry and visual arts workshop focused on eco- and climate anxiety, will be held from 4:00-6:00 on Friday April 12 and 10:00-12:00 on Saturday April 13. Meet with and learn from scholars working across disciplines on climate change.
- The NC State Sustainability Council will co-host the Centennial Social Hour on Thursday, April 25. Drop in and network with on- and off-campus sustainability partners.
