OUR Events and Reminders

  • (updated) The State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) will be held November 11 and hosted by Wingate University and South Piedmont Community College. Registration for SNCURCS is due by October 16 (if you submitted to present, you must also register); students should indicate that the institution (NC State) will pay their fee (use prleaird@ncsu.edu as the contact email). If you choose this option and do not attend, you will be responsible for reimbursing the OUR.
  • The OUR, with the University Libraries, will host a Research Slam event on October 26 from 4:00-5:00 in the Fishbowl Forum at DH Hill Jr Library. Student presenters, who are undergraduate researchers, will have five slides and five minutes to discuss their research projects. All are welcome to join us!
  • OUR Fall Seminars are running and are open to all students from all disciplines and all experience levels. Review the link to find titles, descriptions, days, times, and more information about the Fall 2023 offerings.
  • Presentation Help Sessions will be offered for students who would like assistance with presenting. Poster presentation help session – November 6; oral presentation help session – November 9. All disciplines and all research presentation purposes are welcome (conference, class, 3MT, etc.). You must bring a draft of the presentation to practice!
  • Spring 2024 OUR Project Supply Grant (formerly Research Award) proposals are due November 15 at 11:59pm. Students in all disciplines are welcome. Applicants must attend an Award Help Session in order to be eligible.

Program Applications
  • The OnePack Empowered Program is designed to support and empower neurodivergent students and those with executive functioning challenges. Its mission is to identify the unique needs of these students and support their academic and career goals. Applications for the program are due November 10.
  • The TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program is accepting applications through October 15. Sign up for an info session here. McNair is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.
  • The KIETS Climate Leaders Program is seeking nominations/applications. Students wishing to develop solutions to adapt to, mitigate, or reverse negative effects of climate change should consider applying. Nominations and applications are due by October 22 at 11:59pm.
