The Pre-Health Peer Advisor position is a one-year student position in the Career Development Center supervised by the Assistant Director of Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising. The goal of this position is to connect pre-health students with peers who have experience as a pre-health student at NC State.
What does a Peer Advisor do?
-Answer student questions about experiences, coursework, and admissions
-Connect students with resources
-Explain the process of applying to health professions school
-Exhibit cultural competence in supporting peers
-Help students identify strengths as an applicant and new ways to grow
-Plan and support programs for pre-health population
Requirements
- 6-8 hours a week for advising and program assistance, with option up to 10 hours/week
-Have intent to apply to pre-health professional schools
-Hold office hours for current students
-Work on projects assigned by Assistant Director
-Meet with Assistant Director to inform of and address trends in pre-health community
-Consult with Assistant Director via email communication
