PhD Research Assistantship at USC
FULL FUNDING is available to study three projects:
- Arabian Sea Mini-Warm Pool dynamics using ocean-atmosphere coupled ocean model simulations
- Upper Ocean mixing Processes and circulation in the Arabian Sea using SWOT altimetry
- Internal waves dynamics in the Bay of Bengalusing sea surface height and sea surface salinity.

The Satellite Oceanography Laboratory at the University of South Carolina, Columbia invites applications from qualified students to our MS/PhD (Marine Science) in the School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment at the University of South Carolina (UofSc) to work on problems in Physical Oceanography/ Satellite Oceanography/ Ocean Modeling/Air-Sea Interaction/Tropical Ocean Circulation, and Dynamical Processes. The Satellite Oceanography Laboratory is funded by many federal agencies: NASA/NOAA/ONR/National Academy of Sciences.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Oceanography, Marine Science, Meteorology, Atmospheric science is required. Applicants should have strong mathematical and computer programming skills in Matlab/Python. Full Funding is available starting in Spring 2023 (Spring admission deadline October 31, 2022 and Summer/Fall admission deadline December 15, 2022).
