Interested in working with internationals domestically or internationally? Consider earning a minor in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). These five 3-credit courses will give you a deeper understanding of English as an international language and the necessary skill sets for teaching English in various cultural and/or educational contexts. Furthermore, it will give you an additional competitive edge, should you decide to apply to prestigious scholarship programs such as the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant program, JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching Program), TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France), and others. We are offering three courses in the minor this fall:
FL 436-601 Perspectives on English as a New Language (fulfills the USD category), Thursdays 4:30-7:15 (online synchronous)
FL 424-601 Linguistics for ESL Professionals (online asynchronous)
FL 427-001 Methods and Materials in Teaching English as a Second Language: Tuesdays 4:15-7:15 (in person).
