On Saturday, October 30th from 12-5:30, MEAS will be holding our annual Porktoberfest event at Lake Wheeler Park – Oak Shelter! For those that have never been, Porktoberfest is basically a big picnic for the whole department. We will have BBQ (regular and vegan), side dishes, desserts, lawn games, Wolfpack football, and more! Tickets will be $10 for undergrads, grad students, post docs, and staff, and $15 for faculty. We will begin selling tickets at the entrance to Jordan Hall on Monday (10/18) from 12pm-1pm, and we will continue selling them every weekday until Porktoberfest. Ticket sales will be cash only!
This year Porktoberfest will be doubling as a Halloween party, so costumes are encouraged! There will also be a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest (that is BYOP) with prizes for the winners. Porktoberfest is a family-friendly event so spouses, significant others, kids, and (well-behaved) pets are all welcome!
We are looking for folks to volunteer to help set-up before the event, clean up after the event, and bring food items. If you would like to help out, please sign up on the spreadsheet here. If you volunteer in one of these ways, you will not have to pay for a ticket to Porktoberfest. If there is a dish you would like to bring that is not on the list, you must get it approved by a MEAS GSA Exec member first.
