It is time to apply for Bald Head Island Conservancy’s summer 2021 undergraduate internships. Each summer around 16 undergraduates (juniors, seniors, recent grads) are hired who spend the summer on BHI learning to work at our nonprofit organization in several possible positions.
These include:
– Coastal Environmental Science (supervisor is yours truly)
– Sea Turtle Protection/Nighttime Tagging
– Environmental Education
– Marketing/Communications
– Retail
– Development/Fundraising
The science internships are more oriented towards monitoring and conservation than research, although we do collaborate with university partners and government agencies on a few research projects. All of the positions are a great opportunity for students to try a variety of tasks, learn about possible careers outside of academia, potentially prepare for graduate school, learn about nonprofit operations, and work in a vibrant and fast-paced environment (and live at the beach!).
