NC State
MEAS Undergraduate Updates

Welcome back to campus, or if you’re new to the Wolfpack, welcome for the first time! I wanted to share an amazing opportunity for students to get involved in a meaningful way this year.

College Mentors for Kids is a national nonprofit that pairs college students with elementary-aged kids for one-on-one mentorship throughout the academic year. Here at NC State, our chapter meets weekly on campus, providing students the chance to mentor kids from local elementary schools, build leadership skills, and make a real difference in the community. I’ve advised the NC State chapter for nearly five years, and each year I am more and more impressed with our student leadership and with the impact they have on their “little buddies.”

Please pass this along to any student you think might be interested. Questions can be sent to: ncsucollegementorsforkids@gmail.com.

Hello!

College Mentors for Kids at NC State is looking to recruit more student mentors and student staff members! We meet on campus every week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 4:15 – 6:15 PM. Students get to choose which of those three days they come on.

We are looking for students to volunteer for the following positions, of which we have numerous openings for each:

  • Mentors: paired one-on-one with an elementary-age student to be their Mentor for the entire academic year.

  • General Managers: lead groups of Mentors and Little Buddies each week during activities.

  • Engagement Managers: attend activities, observe and engage with Buddy Pairs, support Mentors, help manage behavior and resolve conflict.

  • Transportation Officers: ride the bus with our Little Buddies to and from NC State and the elementary school; Transportation Officers can also be Mentors.

  • Activity Directors: help prep materials and plan activities for the program; Activity Directors can also be Mentors.

  • Fundraising Directors: help plan fundraising opportunities for the chapter; Fundraising Directors can also be Mentors.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above, please fill out the following application:

After filling out the application, please sign up for an interview using this form:

Sign up for an interview here!

Students must fill out the Mentor Application first before signing up for an interview. Otherwise, we will be unable to process them in our database and will not be able to register them for an interview.

The Mentor Application is due September 8th, and interviews will be held from September 5th through September 15th. Our Mentor positions are largely accepted on a rolling basis, but priority will be given to those who apply by the deadline.
