Prof. Greg Hakim from the University of Washington will present a seminar at 3:30 pm in room 1216 Jordan Hall Addition.
He is a renowned expert in weather and climate dynamics, data assimilation, and AI/ML applications. His talk will present his view that the next phase in the AI revolution involves adjoints of the models; I think that this is of broad interest to the COS AI/ML community, and also any who are interested in data assimilation, AI/ML methods, extreme events, and weather/climate prediction and projection.
The Braham Seminar in MEAS honors the late Prof. Roscoe Braham, who rose to prominence studying cloud physics and thunderstorm dynamics at U. Chicago, and was Scholar-in-Residence at NCSU in MEAS from 1991 until 2017. The seminar is sponsored by The Braham Family, especially Richard and Ann Margaret Braham.
