We are pleased to announce that the TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program application is now open! The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program aims to provide an enriching educational experience for first-generation, income-eligible students, as defined by federal regulations. It is designed to help students excel as an undergraduate, succeed in graduate school, and ultimately obtain a Ph.D. or Ed.D.

The Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program is a federal TRIO program funded at 206 institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico by the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at NC State serves 26 undergraduate students annually.

The TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program will be accepting applications through Sunday, March 22nd. Interested students can apply by visiting go.ncsu.edu/mcnairapp or attend an information session to learn more!

Program Benefits
By joining the McNair Scholars Program, you will benefit from a wide range of services and activities provided at no cost to participants, including, but not limited to:

  • Individualized academic and personal support from McNair Scholars Program Staff

Eligibility

To be eligible for the TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • First-generation college students and meet income requirements
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • At least one academic year remaining
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Desire to attain a Ph.D. or Ed.D.
