MEAS Undergraduate Updates
The University Fellowships Office is happy to announce that the 2026 internal competition for UK awards has opened. This process is for students who would like to be considered to seek nomination to the Marshall, Churchill, or Rhodes scholarships. Details about each award are linked. These awards require institutional nomination and those are limited.
  • In general, this is directed toward 3rd year students who are interested in going straight to graduate school (Fall 2027)
    OR
  • Graduating seniors who are already planning a gap year before attending graduate school (Fall 2027 start)
  • Ideal candidates have a 4.0 GPA with strong research and/or practical application in their field, as well as significant and demonstrated leadership experience
  • Should have compelling and/or specific reasons for wanting to study in the UK
  • Rhodes & Marshall: all degrees considered; Churchill: Open only to STEM students
  • Rhodes = Oxford
  • Churchill = Churchill College, Cambridge
  • Marshall = any UK institution
As you can imagine, these awards are incredibly competitive; therefore, we require any student seeking nomination to complete a full, complete internal competition application as well as submitting a letter of recommendation.  In order to be considered for official institutional nomination, students must complete an internal competition application. Follow this link to see the process and requirements.
The deadline for students to submit materials is 5pm on Wednesday, April 15. After that, the NC State UK Awards Committee will review all of the materials submitted and determine who will receive the NCSU nominations. All applicants will receive feedback on their submitted materials.
Interested students should attend the upcoming info session if they’re interested. It will be held on Friday, January 23 at 10am via Zoom if you’d like to join. We will be going over the basics for each award, as well as the best ways to prepare their materials for the committee.
