Job Title: Entry-Level Environmental Technician

Position Summary:
Piedmont Geologic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Environmental Technician to support environmental field investigations and remediation projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will assist with soil and groundwater sampling, perform routine maintenance on remediation systems, and contribute to technical reporting. This position requires regular travel to project sites throughout the U.S., often including overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field activities including:
- Collection of soil, groundwater, and vapor samples using standard industry methods.
- Operation and maintenance of remediation systems (e.g., pump-and-treat, SVE, air sparge).
- Installation and monitoring of environmental sampling points (e.g., monitoring wells, soil borings).
- Assist in preparing scopes of work and subcontractor coordination for drilling, laboratory, and construction services.
- Collect, organize, and interpret environmental field and laboratory data.
- Assist in preparing technical reports documenting sampling results, site conditions, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain field notes, sampling logs, and chain-of-custody documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols on all job sites.
- Travel regularly to project locations with overnight stays as required (typically within the state or throughout the U.S.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant experience or an Associate degree with technical field exposure will be considered.
- Strong interest in field-based environmental work and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions on ones own or within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with GIS or environmental data platforms is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain prior to fieldwork).
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Experience with environmental sampling protocols or remediation systems.
- Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations and reporting standards.
