MEAS Undergraduate Updates
 Participate in Science, Education, and Extension (SEE) Inside Greek Agriculturean NC State Study Abroad Program for 2025!
SEE Inside Greek Agriculture will feature farms, food production and processing, agriculture, agricultural education, extension, and history. Students will learn while being immersed in Greek culture including food markets, monasteries, antiquities, and museums!
  • The dates are May 10-25, 2025, and the locations are Thessaloniki, Trikala, Ioannina, and Athens, Greece.

  • We will fly into Thessaloniki and stay at American Farm School and Perrotis College (a single campus in Thessaloniki). Housing will be in the college residence hall in Thessaloniki and local hotels as we travel from Thessaloniki to Athens.
  • Daily lectures and field trips will include: fruit, meat, and vegetable markets; animal welfare; grape, wine and grape leaves industry; Greek Mediterranean Diet; food labeling and composition; aromatic herbs; poultry; dairy products; beekeeping; pistachio production; and olive oil production, tasting, and sensory analysis.
  • SEE Inside Greek Agriculture will immerse students in both the science and culture of the Greek Mediterranean Diet.
  • Cultural experiences include Greek dance lessons, Mount Olympus, Meteora, Acropolis Hill, Parthenon, museums, and more!
  • Students will enroll in either AEE 495 (3 credits for undergraduates) or AEHS 595 (3 credits for graduate students including non-degree seeking students) for Summer I 2025.
  • SEE Inside Greek Agriculture applications will open on October 1 and will likely close December 1 (early action deadline).
  • Students are encouraged to apply for NC State Study Abroad Scholarships before the November 15 deadline! Scholarships are for degree-seeking students.
