REMUS: Research Experiences and Mentorship in Urban Systems
This Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program is designed to immerse students in the study of urban systems through one-on-one mentored research projects spanning a social, ecological, and technological framework. Research mentors will guide students to address real-world research questions in Charlotte, NC. Student projects span topics such as biodiversity, conservation, environmental justice, climate systems, green infrastructure, and more! Our goal is to help students explore and understand urban systems while preparing them to address global challenges, including the efforts of balancing urban expansion with environmental sustainability. Find more information about potential projects and mentors here. Students will also participate in workshops to build skills in science communication and data analysis.
Information about how to apply can be found here. Applications are due February 2 and can be completed using National Science Foundation’s Education and Training Application (REMUS ETAP). Participants will receive a $6,500 total stipend, as well as housing and paid travel at the start and end of the 10-week program.
We hope to see you in Charlotte this summer!
