Bio – Dr. Glotfelty has always been interested in the complex factors that impact weather and climate. He received his B.S. in Meteorology from Penn State in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from NC State in 2016. His Ph.D. research focused on the interactions and feedbacks between air quality and climate change in global climate models and how to improve the representation of these processes. After obtaining his Ph.D., he worked as both a postdoctoral research associate at the U.S. EPA and a research scientist at UNC Chapel Hill on projects related to the interactions between air quality and climate change in the U.S. and Africa, respectively. Dr. Glotfelty joined the North Carolina State Climate Office in the summer of 2022 where he is currently focused on utilizing downscaled global climate model data to support decision making tools and other climate applications for North Carolina communities.
