Join MEAS for our Monday August 28th seminar next week.
The speaker will be Dr. Brian McAdoo (Duke University) who will be giving a talk titled “Planetary Health and Disaster Justice”.
Abstract: Disasters are becoming increasingly commonplace as a supercharged climate events are impacting a variety of marginalized communities, and proposed solutions often make matters worse. Planetary Health considers the ways humans are impacting Earth Systems under the banner of development and how we are compromising the health and well-being of the most at-risk communities. In this talk, we explore the intersection between “natural” disasters and community vulnerability, highlighting three solutions aimed at reducing the risk of marginalized populations while not harming the planet.
The seminar will be held at 3:30pm on Monday in Jordan Hall 1108.
Please note the change of venue from last semester!
