AMS Annual Meeting 28 Jan- 1 Feb 2024 Baltimore, MD and Online

Dear AMS Members and Friends,

Every year, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) offers students the opportunity to be part of the largest professional meeting in the weather, water, and climate sector. Applications to our Student Assistant Program will open this summer for participation in the 104th AMS Annual Meeting. The meeting’s theme, “Living in a Changing Environment,” is of crucial importance to the future of our sector and our planet. We hope you will share this opportunity with your students.

Student Assistants work closely with AMS staff to help execute a successful annual meeting, with opportunities to make professional connections and learn about cutting-edge research in atmospheric, hydrologic, and oceanic sciences. Building on new feedback from previous years, we are creating a well-rounded 2024 program that offers more opportunities than ever for a satisfying learning and professional experience.

Student Assistants are provided with free hotel accommodation and annual meeting registration, plus a small per diem to offset meal expenses. Applicants must be AMS student members. The application opens mid-August and ends early September. The Annual Meeting will be held 28 January–1 February 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland. We are looking to recruit dependable AMS student members to work directly with staff during the full week’s conference.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to students who may be interested in this rewarding program. Please consider posting and sharing the flier found here. You can also sign up here for meeting updates.

The Student Assistant Program offers great benefits to students in the atmospheric, and related oceanic and hydrologic, sciences. We are confident that this experience will be rewarding in many ways, and we look forward to student participation. Thank you for helping bring this opportunity to your students.
