MEAS Undergraduate Updates
We welcome students and faculty/staff to meet with (or email) OUR staff and student ambassadors with research-related questions or concerns!

OUR Events and Reminders
  • Congratulations and well done(!) to the students who presented their work at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at the Univ. of WI Eau Claire on April 13-15: Kathryn Benedict, Benjamin Black, Brooke Dunkley, Thusna Gardiyehewa, Anne Graf, Kelis Johnson, Amanda Knizley, Chase McCrary, Deeqa Musa, Rebecca Olson, Prerana Prabhushankar, Katie Taran, Steven Thompson, and Jada West!
  • Summer OUR RA Program applications will be open April 17-21 (closing today!). The submission site will not be open before or after this week. Applications are submitted on epack. Review information about the program and requirements on the OUR RA site. You can review what you will be asked on the OUR RA site. Students must have a confirmed mentor to apply.
  • Spring Symposium is not only an opportunity for students to present, it is also an opportunity to see what undergraduate researchers are doing, to see with whom they’re working, and to experience a conference in a familiar atmosphere. We will start each day with light breakfast offerings and a chance to network with campus partners, employers, and other student, faculty, and staff guests prior to presentation sessions. Join us! You can find the presenter schedule posted on the Symposium site; we expect to have the abstract book posted soon.
  • The next round of Help Sessions for OUR Awards will run in May and early June. Find dates and times here. You must attend a help session in order for your proposal to be read (if you attended a help session in SP23, you will not need to attend one again).
  • The OUR will run a Summer Seminar series beginning in late May for those required to attend a professional development experience and/or those interested in learning more about research-related topics. More information is coming soon. Programs/students may also attend our REU supplemental programming on research topics, but must register with the OUR.
  • As you wrap up Spring research (and begin Summer projects), consider submitting your (undergraduates, graduates, staff, faculty) images, gifs, and/or videos to the Envisioning Research contest. Submissions are due June 19 and will require information about the entry, including a brief description.
  • The OUR provides travel awards (accepted throughout the year) to help mitigate costs of going to a conference or discipline-related event if you are accepted to present. Make sure to read requirements and submit all necessary information.
Other Events and Reminders
