Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking an entry level Field Geologist. This is a terrific opportunity for someone to work on a variety of projects while growing their career.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination, preparation and performance of field activities such as collecting soil, rock, and groundwater samples
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluation, plan and permit projects
- Assist in identifying technical issues and contribute to development approaches to solve problems
- Oversee drilling and testing
- Record retrieval and research for upcoming projects
- Data review and analysis
- Report data compilation, report writing and other duties to support various projects
- Direct field personnel and supervise drillers as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- BS in Geology
- Knowledge of NC geology
- Ability to review and quickly assimilate various pieces of data
- Excellent report writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to direct field personnel and supervise drillers on projects.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, coordination and communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand as needed
- Ability to stand up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel
- Ability to sit, climb and balance
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to travel to work sites and stay overnight as needed
- Valid Driver’s license with safe driving record and ability to drive

- Knowledge of Bentley gINT, Power GeoPak V8i & Microstation Geopak
