NC State
MEAS Undergraduate Updates
We welcome students and faculty/staff to meet with (or email) OUR staff and student ambassadors with research-related questions or concerns! We’re happy to provide support, information, and/or resources.

OUR Events and Reminders
  • If you submitted an abstract to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), let the OUR know! If you’ve already informed us, thank you.

  • The ACC Meeting of the Minds conference will be hosted by VA Tech on March 24-26, 2023. NC State will take a select number of students. Undergraduate researchers from any discipline are encouraged to apply, and must submit a faculty letter of support, an abstract for the work, a resume, and an application. Find more information/the application on this page (due January 20, 2023).

  • Spring 23 OUR seminars have been posted; review descriptions and register with this link! We will provide numerous sessions on research-related topics for those meeting requirements or those curious about a variety of research topics – all are welcome!

  • The OUR is offering Paid Research Assistant program positions. Note: There are limited spaces (this is one way to partake in research; discuss other options with the OUR). You must have a confirmed mentor to apply. Review requirements for applying, as well as requirements should the job be offered, carefully; find information on the RA page.

  • The FWS Research Assistant position application has re-opened for Spring. Apply by January 20. You can review requirements, information, and apply on the FWS OUR RA page. You must fully complete the application (through the resume question) to be considered.

  • The OUR provides travel awards (accepted throughout the year) to help mitigate costs of going to a conference or discipline-related event if you are accepted to present. Make sure to read requirements and submit all necessary information. For new requests/requests that will be completed beginning in January, students must complete a reflection on their conference or disciplinary event experience.

  • If you are a new mentor (graduate student, new faculty, postdoc, etc.) or looking to brush up on your mentoring skills, the OUR is here to help. Look for mentoring programs to begin in 2023. In the meantime, review our Getting Started with Mentoring page or reach out to Dr. Showalter for assistance. We will also hold a mentoring workshop for interested summer program mentors in May.
