MEAS Undergraduate Updates

This program, located in Perugia, Italy, begins with a two-day tour of Rome. While in Rome, students will visit the ancient, most evocative ruins such as the Coliseum, the Sistine Chapel and other historical sites. After visiting Rome, participants will be transported to Perugia by private bus and begin their studies at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, one of the most prestigious universities in Italy, specialized in teaching Italian as a foreign language. Perugia is the ideal location for students who wish to acquire a genuine experience of Italian life, culture, history, and culinary art in a safe, student-friendly environment. Upon successful completion of the program, students may earn up to 6 credits, the equivalent of two foreign language semesters at NCSU.

Among the many highlights of this program are the Italian cooking classes, which provide program participants with hands-on experiences learning the art of Italian cuisine taught by local chefs. Students will also have the opportunity to experience the prestigious Umbria Jazz Festival that takes place in Perugia every year in July. Numerous included program excursions throughout Italy – including to Venice and Florence – allow for ample opportunities to explore the rich diversity of Italian contemporary culture and history.
