MEAS Undergraduate Updates

NCCOS seeks to hire 1 time-limited employee to develop a suite of science communication products focused on
impacts from coastal inundation, including the interactive effects of sea level rise, storm surge, and high-tide
flooding to allow for more accurate understanding of vulnerability and to evaluate changes in this vulnerability

convey technical scientific concepts around inundation and sea level rise;
• Utilize co-production processes throughout product development to maximize data utility. This includes
regularly consulting with both data producers (e.g., project teams/scientists) and data users (e.g.,
clients, stakeholders such as community planners).
• Effectively use ESRI ArcGIS products (such as ArcPro) and develop geospatial web applications (using
ArcOnline), such as story maps or other online data visualizations;
To be considered for employment, applicants should have:
• A background in environmental science and geospatial data science with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
in a related field. The successful candidate must have a strong background in science communication,
data management, and GIS;
• Excellent scientific communication skills

• Ability to effectively work collaboratively and independently on multiple projects simultaneously in a self-
directed environment;

• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with external partners;
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
