MEAS Undergraduate Updates

Early Alert is a family-owned business that provides customized weather forecast products and emergency management services to some of the world’s largest corporations, including Bank of America, Home Depot, Truist, and Comcast.

Early Alert Professional Development Program:
Early Alert provides paid part-time internships to selected students. Our program focuses upon the intern’s professional development and the application of meteorological principles to real-world problems.

Over the past 15 years, there have been over 25 NC State students who have participated in this program. Several are now employed as full-time meteorologists with Early Alert. Others have careers with the EPA, NWS, positions in state government and private sector corporations.

Opening for Part-Time Interns:
Early Alert is currently seeking applicants for two intern positions in our Professional Development Program. Candidates must have availability for at least a few to several times a week. Training hours will not conflict with students’ academic schedules nor will you be asked to work during Final Exam Week. All work is performed at home from the student’s own computer.

Early Alert will provide the necessary training to potentially become part of its MetTeam. Initial training will cover an overview of the company’s mission, services, products, and staffing. Meteorological training will feature high-impact hazards including winter storms, severe weather, tropical cyclones, wild fires, and flooding. Interns will also undergo familiarization training with various NWS products/guidance, and evaluate the transformation of this information into customized Early Alert products.

Interested applicants, please email resumes to KermitK@EarlyAlert.com

As the selection process proceeds, interviews will be conducted online by Early Alert Staff Members. It is our goal to complete the selection process within two weeks.

Thank you,
