This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geological and hydrogeological data concerning landslide mapping.  This position includes following technical guidance and direction concerning landslides, debris flows, debris slides, rock fall, and rock slides as well as knowledge of deposits from landslide activities.  This position requires the ability to walk through rough and uneven terrain and work in inclement weather.  Experience in geologic mapping and/or the ability to quickly learn to identify landslide types and deposits in the field.  Collecting data would be digitally with the use of geographic information systems (GIS) technology.  Job duties will include emergency response to landslides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data collection and Analysis – This position uses digital data collection techniques of   landslide and debris flow field observations.  The position also analyses field observations from the digital data collection and mapping techniques.
  • Program Management – Document observations and convert those observations to  digitally collected debris deposits, landslide runout zones, and digital mapping products.  Assist leadership in planning and completing work assignments.
  • Report Writing — Assist in the preparation and peer review of documents produced by the landslide team.  Prepare clear, concise and organized documents, maps and reports addressing moderately complex geologic concepts and assist team members in reviewing landslide mapping observations.
