OUR Events and reminders 

  • Interested in research and the various steps and processes therein? Need to complete a professional development requirement as a research-funded student? Just want to spend time with the OUR? Check out the OUR’s Spring Debunking Research discussion series. To view titles, days/times, and locations, as well as register, visit and fill out this Google form. 
  • Start considering research for Summer and Fall! OUR Project Funding applications for Summer Awards will open in February and close in March (specific dates coming soon). Applications for Fall Awards will open in February and close in July. Students will have the opportunity to attend help sessions to improve applications prior to submission. Begin discussions with your mentors today.


Conferences and presentation opportunities

  • The ACC Meeting of the Minds (April 1-3, 2022) is a wonderful and competitive opportunity to present your research. We invite you to review the ACC MotM 2022 Website for more information. Applications will be due on February 4. You will need to submit the application, including a resume, abstract, and letter of support from your faculty mentor. You can also find more information on the OUR ACC page.
  • The National Conference on Undergraduate Research 2022 (NCUR 2022) will be held virtually April 4-8. If you’ve submitted or are interested in attending, reach out to the OUR for information on funding assistance.
  • Whether you’re presenting or attending, mark it on your calendar – the NC State Undergraduate Research & Creativity Symposium will be held April 26-27, 2022. Information about submission deadlines and registration deadlines will be sent out soon!
  • The Stanford Research Conference will be held April 9-10, 2022. Learn more about SURA hereApplications are due by February 18, 2022.

REUs/Summer programs 

  • Deadlines for many Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) for Summer 2022 are coming up soon! You can see a list of NC State REUs on this page and more from the NSF on this page. Please send specific questions to the REU/program host listed on the respective website.
  • The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Scholar Connect Program invites applications through February 10. This is a research program opportunity for students in the Research Triangle. Find out more information on the program website. Questions should be directed to NIHprograms@orau.org.
  • The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is accepting applications through February 15 for a virtual summer undergraduate research fellowship. Questions should be directed to the contact listed on the website.
  • The University of Vermont is hosting a Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program over the summer. Applications are due by February 21, 2022. Questions should be directed the to email/phone number listed on the website.
