In 2010, Jared joined the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS-NC), now known as the Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS). There, he supported maintenance and expansion of major land surface datasets, including the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) and United States Climate Reference Network (USCRN). Recently, he became interested in data visualization and is constantly working on new ways to convey weather and climate data to the public. In 2019, he received a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), from NC State University. He has also completed scientific research using various weather datasets, working with organizations such as FEMA, the Centers for Disease Control, the Society of Actuaries, and the Department of Defense.
He has been an active member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) since 2004 and currently serves on the AMS Committee on Applied Climatology. He has also served on the Board for Early Career Professionals, as well as the local AMS chapter committee. In 2018, was awarded the AMS recognition of Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM).
