MEAS Undergraduate Updates

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is currently accepting applications for the Solar Energy Innovators Program with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so apply TODAY.

What will you be learning? As an Innovator in the Solar Energy Innovators Program, you will get to conduct practical research on innovative solutions to the challenges faced by electric utilities, energy service providers, and electric public utility commissions as the levels of solar energy, as well as other distributed energy resources (DERs), increase on the electrical grid. You will get to spend up to two years at a Host Institution on one or more topics related to integration of solar energy.

Why should you apply? You will enhance your education and training in the solar energy field, help dramatically increase your marketability in these disciplines, gain access to DOE’s top scientists and state-of-the-art equipment, and gain insight into research and career opportunities through your experiences.

Where you will be learning? You must identify a Host Institution and potential mentor currently conducting research in an area related to the integration of solar energy onto the electricity grid. Host Institutions can be a) an electric public utility commission, b) an electric utility operating in the US, or c) an energy service provider operating in the US. For a list of electric public utility commissions, electric utilities, and energy service providers visit Potential Host Institutions.
