Marine Science and Conservation Fall Scholarships
Fall 2021: August 23- December 14, 2021

Extended Deadline: June 30

Each year the Duke University Marine Laboratory offers full scholarships for the fall semester to two undergraduates or recent baccalaureates outside of Duke University. These scholarships cover full tuition & fees, room & board, books, and a small stipend. The recipients will enroll in Duke Marine Lab courses of their choosing taught in Beaufort, where there is emphasis on the biology and physiology of marine organisms, marine molecular biology, marine policy, and coastal socio-ecological issues. Awards will be made no later than 1 July. Students on financial aid should consult with their financial aid advisor to determine how a scholarship would impact their financial aid package.

To be eligible, an applicant must

  • Be a sophomore, junior, senior enrolled in an undergraduate college or university (not from Duke) or a recent baccalaureate.

  • has demonstrated interest in marine science and its impact on society
  • anticipates pursuing an advanced degree in the marine sciences
  • submits a compelling personal statement and strong letters of recommendation
