What is the Bio BA?

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology is the newest degree offering from the Department of Biological Sciences.  This degree was created to meet the needs of students who desire a solid foundation in the life sciences but also want to pursue extensive studies in complementary discipline(s) outside of the life sciences.  Students interested in an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approach to their undergraduate education may find that this degree option better serves their interests and career goals than a B.S. degree in the life sciences.

Why choose the Bio BA?

The BA in Biology gives each student agency in deciding what interests them most and empowers them to identify, analyze, and solve real-world problems. Beyond the required core science courses, students create an interdisciplinary theme to guide their selection of life science elective courses and the cross-discipline electives to best complete their framework.

Bio BA graduates go on to graduate programs and jobs within a wide range of fields that include, but aren’t limited to, health, law, biomedical research, conservation, communication, epidemiology, education, public policy and industry.
