The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University is seeking applications for its summer 2020 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Paid research internships are available to 10-12 students who seek experience in laboratory and field settings. A wide variety of projects are available that are suitable for students pursuing majors in earth and environmental sciences, oceanography and marine biology, atmospheric science, and other natural sciences including physics, chemistry, and biology.

The summer program will run from June 14- August 13, 2021. Accepted students are paid a stipend ($600 per week) and receive on-campus housing and round-trip travel to Oregon State University in Corvallis. For more information and to submit an application online, please visit https://ceoas.oregonstate.edu/research/undergraduate/reu/

In the summer of 2020, we were able to support students to conduct research remotely. We are eager for a return to an in-person internship program during summer 2021. However, it is very difficult to predict what the status of the pandemic will be. We will rely on university policies and procedures to guide how the program will operate and ensure the health and safety of participants. The university’s current COVID-19 response status can be found on the Latest Updates page. We anticipate assessing and deciding in late March 2021 whether the program will be in person, remote or somewhere in between.

Eligibility is limited to degree seeking undergraduate students who have not graduated before Fall 2020 and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students at two or four year colleges with limited research opportunities in earth, ocean, or atmospheric sciences are especially encouraged to apply.
