MEAS Undergraduate Updates

The Environment Analytics group is looking to hire one or two undergraduate research assistants to work on research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA, and the Office of Naval Research. Research topics include winter weather, marine low clouds, and weather model verification with observations. Projects involve the processing and analysis of several types of observational remote sensing data sets from ground-based, airborne, and satellite sensors as well as model output from global and regional models. Our group also uses long-running research observations from vertically-pointing radars and a Multi-Angle Snowflake Camera. Research will be supervised by Dr. Sandra Yuter.

Requirements: Science, technology, engineering or math major of at least sophomore standing with a G.P.A. > 3.3

When: Positions start in Spring semester 2021.

Pay: Starting pay will be ≥$10/hour depending on experience.

Hours: 10 hours per week during the academic semester and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

Requirements:

  • Some programming ability and experience with Matlab or Python
  • Some experience working in a Linux environment
  • Interest in learning fundamentals of meteorology
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and contribute new ideas to the project
