MEAS Undergraduate Updates

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences (DAS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is delighted to announce that registration and abstract submission for the 4th annual edition of the Midwest Student Conference on Atmospheric Research (MSCAR) is now open! MSCAR will be held entirely virtually on September 26-27, and registration and abstract submission are free of cost.

MSCAR is a budding, non-profit, student-led conference designed for both graduate and undergraduate students to present their research and learn from other students, distinguished scientists, and researchers. We are happy to announce that this year’s keynote speakers are Ms. Sandra Cauffman (Acting Director, Earth Sciences Division, NASA) and Prof. Victor Gensini (Asst. Prof., Dept. of Geographic and Atmospheric Sciences, Northern Illinois University). Students will also have the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops led by DAS faculty members. This year we are happy to offer Open Source Python Programming for Geosciences with Prof. Steve Nesbitt, Severe Weather Forecasting and Communication with Teaching Assoc. Prof. Jeff Frame, and Climate Data Analysis using R with Assoc. Prof. Ryan Sriver.

Please use this link for abstract submission. The submission portal will close on August 24th at 11.59PM CDT. If you would like to attend without presenting, you can register at this link.

More information can be found on our website or Twitter. Alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions at mscar@atmos.illinois.edu.
