This webinar series provides a straightforward, informational “building block” approach to a working understanding of bedrock wells. Essential information will be presented in each webinar, with the goal of providing a thorough, yet realistic, understanding of bedrock wells, and in particular, enhanced awareness of the important aspects of yield and economic considerations prior to planning and development.

This webinar series is designed for water utility superintendents and managers who may be considering the development of bedrock wells for sources of supply. It also provides additional information and insights to those currently operating bedrock wells. Consulting engineers, public health professionals, and regulatory officials will also find this webinar series of interest.

Our speakers are:

  • J. Theodore Morine, P.G., C.P.G., Senior Hydrogeologist and Vice President, Denis L. Maher Company
  • Raymond Talkington, Ph.D., P.G., C.P.G., Principal Hydrogeologist and President, GEOSPHERE Environmental Management, Inc
  • Frank Getchell, P.G., C.P.G., Senior Technical Lead, Weston & Sampson

The first webinar in the series will provide an overview of bedrock well fundamentals (differentiating bedrock wells from overburden wells; bedrock aquifer settings in New England: bedrock aquifer water quality variability, and environmental considerations), bedrock well regulations and wellhead protection, and wrap up with a presentation on bedrock well exploration that will cover the selection of a bedrock site, fracture trace analysis, and geophysical techniques. The second webinar in the series will cover bedrock well drilling and well construction, will feature a session on pumping tests and safe yield estimates, and will finish up with a bedrock well development case study.
