MUS295 Special Topics: Music of Africa and the Americas, Spring, ’19. The focus of this new course is on musical styles and contexts from Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, Trinidad, Suriname, and Brazil. The emphasis will be on the commonalities and differences between regional and national styles, and the roles African musics have played in developing the unique musical forms of the New World.
