Marne Coit is offering Food Law this spring.  A flyer is attached.  The course is at the undergraduate level, ARE 495, section 003.

Food Law is designed as a survey course to explore the laws related to food and food systems.  Whether dealing with issues in food production, food processing, consumer safety, or nutrition, those who are working with farmers, food businesses, or elsewhere within the food system must possess a solid understanding of the rules and regulations, as well as the underlying policy considerations related to food.  In this course, students will have an opportunity to explore and discuss the legal ramifications associated with issues such as: federal and state laws that regulate food; food labeling claims, including “natural”, “local” and GMO labeling; the history and underlying policies of the current Farm Bill as it relates to food; organic food production and certification; and food accessibility and waste.
